As a white, cis-gendered, hetero-partnered, neurotypical, able bodied US citizen I seek to acknowledge intersectionality and repair white dominant culture norms. Self-identifying BIPOC, LGBTQAI+, Non-Neurotypical, and Folx with Disabilities receive sliding scale sessions or financial assistance as a part of my personal reparations effort.

Meet Amy

My name is Amy Day, and I consider collaborating with you an honor. I believe in the inherent wisdom within each of us, an inborn intelligence that was first so apparent to me in the precious young people I had the privilege to walk alongside while studying education at The Colorado College. I collaborated with middle and high school students with affective needs for ten years thereafter, and then became curious about trauma-informed body-based modalities, in 2002.

I have learned both from my personal experience and from the experience of others, that your nervous-system and your very wise body has helped you to survive. It succeeded in its only job, keeping you alive. Your inner-knowing continues to guide you through each day, helping you to decide what best to do with the resources you have. Perhaps your intuition has given you a hunch that there might be a way to feel more vitally alive and at home within yourself. I would be so glad to be a resource to this end.

Somatic Practices became my life's work because I find the intersection of thoughts, impressions, emotions and sensations to be powerfully integrative when held with compassion and curiosity.  Speaking through these different elements of the human experience, our bodies might be the wisest part of us.

My intention is to collaborate with respect, clarity and equity; focusing on nervous system regulation and resilience.  I offer Trauma-Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga, Somatic Experiencing®, Somatic Movement & Mindfulness, and educational training and consultation to organizations looking to enhance their trauma sensitivity.

I also offer advocacy, consultation and support by collaborating with medical, mental health, and integrative professionals within your plan of care. With specialized skills in trauma recovery, I am able to serve as an adjunct health professional in coordination with your primary mental health therapist or primary care provider.

Who Have I Learned From?

I am a Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner and Training Assistant through Somatic Experiencing International®, a Trauma Center-Trauma Sensitive Yoga Facilitator through The Center for Trauma and Embodiment at Justice Resource Institute, and a member of USABP.

Somatic Experiencing® International is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports trauma resolution and resilience through culturally responsive, professional education and outreach in diverse global communities. SEI's educational programming and outreach initiatives bring resources for nervous system stabilization to hundreds of thousands of people worldwide.

The Center for Trauma and Embodiment is a human service organization, recognizing that complex trauma is both interpersonal and systemic and that quality care models require attention to both dynamics. We commit to a continuous process of learning through actively engaging in relationships with survivors of complex trauma, practitioners and community leaders from wide-ranging perspectives in order to inform our work and our growth as an organization. We work with impacted communities and trauma care providers around the world to develop and sustain evidence-based interventions that center the body in healing.
